Thornton & Grooms Aims to Collect 4,000 Pounds of Food for Local Food Banks
Local Heating and Cooling Company Seeks to Help Hungry this Holiday Season by Collecting Food for Local Food Banks During Service Calls

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, November 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thornton & Grooms, a local heating and cooling company, is conducting a food drive for local food banks through December 9 with the goal of collecting 4,000 pounds of food. Food that is collected will be donated to food banks, including Lady of Charity at St. Hugo's and several others. Thornton & Grooms is offering additional discounts off services with donations of five cans or boxes or more, in hopes of collecting non-perishable items from the homes they service.

2011 is the fourth year for Thornton & Grooms to organize a food drive for the benefit of local food banks. In the past two years, a combined 6,000 pounds of food was collected and donated. This year, the company wants to do even more.

"It's a great way to give back to the community. Not only are we providing great service to our customers but we can use that same opportunity to serve our community as well," says Dave Knight, owner of Thornton & Grooms. "We need your help to reach our goal."

The most-requested items for donation include cereal, peanut butter, canned pasta, crackers, boxed meals such as Hamburger Helper, and toiletries. All nonperishable foods will be gladly accepted, however.
