KBS Coatings uses Non-Porous Pigments for their Rust Preventive Paints.
Pigments determine the color or abrasion resistance. Of a coating not the porosity, this coating trait is determined by the resin in the paint.
/Indiana News Articles/ - VALPARAISO, IN, August 25, 2007 - Many people really love KBS' selection of colors for stopping rust but some people say that certain pigments make a coating porous. That is simply not true.
A truly basic understanding of paint chemistry might provide some insight. Paint is simply a combination of resins and pigments. Porosity or the lack thereof is determined strictly by the proper choice of resins. Pigments, which are fully encapsulated by these resins, simply provide color. In other words, pigments don't determine porosity and resins don't determine color. Some pigments are indeed porous; in fact black (carbon) is most porous of all. Yet when this extremely porous carbon pigment is encapsulated with the correct resins the result is a non-porous coating. This obviously holds true for less porous pigment as well.
KBS Coatings is on the cutting edge of Rust Preventive Coatings. RustSeal comes in 8 colors and when used properly will provide you will complete rust stopping power.
