New Viveda Workplace Makes Employee Health Screenings More Effective
Predictive Physiology and Medicine (PPM) today announced the launch of its new Viveda Workplace service. This service offers workplace wellness providers and businesses a new way to visualize biometric screening results for employees, improving the effectiveness of these tests.

BLOOMINGTON, IN, May 01, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Predictive Physiology and Medicine (PPM) today announced the launch of its new Viveda Workplace service. This service offers workplace wellness providers and businesses a new way to visualize biometric screening results for employees, improving the effectiveness of these tests. Viveda Workplace uses colorful graphics and informative health content to help employees better understand their biometric test results. This increased comprehension gives employees the confidence to their reach wellness program goals.

Employee health and the associated costs are a tremendous challenge for employers. US employers lose $225.8 billion annually in productivity related to personal and family health problems. Biometric screenings are an integral part of most corporate efforts to improve employee health. However, the success of these screenings hinges on the employee's comprehension of the test results and the resulting action to change unhealthy lifestyle habits. Only 12% of the US population has proficient health literacy - a startling 87 million people exhibit inadequate health literacy skills. This sizeable low literacy population struggles to understand basic health information, including test results.

PPM's Viveda products and services were developed for low health literacy populations that need help understanding and acting upon their own health information. Viveda Workplace is a powerful tool for corporate wellness programs. PPM's CEO Brian Kleber commented, "Biometric screenings are useful for identifying at risk employees and establishing specific health behavior goals. The challenge is how screening results get relayed to the individual." Kleber went on to say, "What we've found is that employees often don't comprehend the significance of their results or even forget the information within just a few minutes." PPM believes its new biometric screening reports-using high impact visuals and 5th grade reading level health content-gives employees the understanding and confidence to reach their wellness program goals. In some programs, this can mean a lowering of insurance premiums.

At an annual per employee cost of $60-$150, corporate wellness programs must provide biometric screening results in way that is useful and impactful. On average, companies realize a return of investment ranging from $3-$15 for each dollar invested. Viveda Workplace can help employers realize the full potential of that investment and track changes in the health of employee populations from year-to-year. A benefits manager who recently used Viveda Workplace at an employee health fair said, "Every employee left our health fair with information on their screening results that was well presented and concise. Viveda Workplace added tremendous value to our event. We'll definitely use it again."
